What sets Dr. Kraus apart from other coaches? She is a doctor of psychology. Though she also practices therapy as a licensed psychologist, her coaching and psychology practices are distinctly separate, and she does not provide psychotherapy or mental health services to coaching clients. However, her coaching clients benefit from her extensive training in understanding human behavior, emotions, and thought processes. Dr. Kraus’s deeper understanding allows her to provide more insightful and effective guidance to her coaching clients, which ultimately promotes more meaningful and sustainable change.

What is coaching, and how does it differ from therapy?Coaching is a collaborative process that aims to help individuals set and achieve personal or professional goals. Coaching primarily focuses on goal setting, problem-solving, skill development, and achieving desired outcomes in the present and future. Coaching can benefit individuals seeking to enhance specific areas of their life or work, such as career advancement, leadership development, relationship improvement, and/or personal fulfillment. Therapy tends to focus on exploring past experiences, emotions, and psychological patterns to promote healing and personal insight. Therapy is beneficial for individuals experiencing mental health concerns, emotional difficulties, trauma, relationship issues, or significant life transitions. It can help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, and other psychological conditions.

How do I determine if I need coaching or therapy?Consider your primary concerns, goals, and the nature of the issues you're facing. If you're primarily seeking support in achieving specific goals, improving performance, or enhancing certain aspects of your life or work, coaching may be suitable. If you're dealing with emotional distress, psychological symptoms, trauma, or relationship difficulties that significantly impact your daily functioning and well-being, psychotherapy may better meet your needs.
